E-mail Print PDF

These pics range between 1936-1940 more or less, they belong to the Marketing Institute and it is one of the best example on customer service training to employees.

Finland already knew this since many years ago and it has continued like this through the years. It is  the foundation among others of one of the key driven factors that make Finland unique: Efficiency and Innovation driven. (These photos can be seen in the Sokos salad bar area)

A New Era of Leadership - From Hierarchy to Network

E-mail Print PDF

The following presentation on How social media and digital environments are changing management, collaboration and organizations, is one of my favorites. It was made by Pasi Mäenpää: Executive Vice President, Corporate Customers/ Elisa at Elisa ICT Forum 2010, Helsinki, Finland, Europe ( More information can be found here as well http://www.elisa.com/en/ and http://www.dicole.com).

Different topics such as theory of transaction costs, how the Internet reduces the decentralization-centralization transaction costs axis cloud company, communications paradigms, etc, are carefully discussed with a blend of brick-and-mortars-corporate-matters and external factors references that permeate the company in an every day more hyper competitive world.

To my opinion these insights made by Pasi Mäenpää can clear out the clouds and pave the way in order to create more "networked-sustainability" therefore leading us to believe European entrepreneurs are and have been definitely the basis of global economy denying in this way what Mr. Eric Schmidt is saying about Europe must embrace 'crazy entrepreneurs', i really don't think the Larry Ellisons, the Steve Jobses, the Bill Gates are the founders of the large global companies, most of these companies that are 100% Americans are not sustainable compared to those that are so are one way or another drunk from European education model where those CEOs mentioned above would be drop-outs. Remember Peter Drucker was not American at all and most of the teachings from most Business Schools come from European Business Schools that are much much older than Harvard.

Finland's Lessons To The World

E-mail Print PDF

Looking back to its agrarian economy era back in the 30's, Finland has shown a remarkable growth and progress ever since. During the 50s decade, most of the population and more or less 40 per cent of output were still in the primary sector.

During the 70's, Finland was already considered a stable and mature economy compared to its neighbor countries.

Nowadays, according to Newsweek Finland was awarded an Honorable mention as best country in the world. Reasons: best high income, best education.

And according to the World Economic Forum, Finland is considered to be in the first 6th place of the top richest countries around the world, key factors that make it considered a rich country is the fact Finland is an Innovation driven country but also Efficiency driven and with a very poor or zero corruption rates among others.
